This week at our community center at 54 South Prospect, we built on our birdhouse theme by painting ceramic toucans perched on wooden branches. This creative activity, brought to us by the Charter Oak Cultural Center, allowed each child to paint their toucan with complete artistic freedom and even name their bird. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about colors, shades, and color mixing while expressing their creativity.
This past week, the Charter Oak Cultural Center led a birdhouse-building arts and crafts event in our coummunity center at 54 South Prospect St as part of our summer activities. This event provided an excellent opportunity for the children in our community to connect with nature and birds. The activity encouraged collaboration among the kids while boosting their curiosity and creativity. Charter Oaks Cultural Center brought a musical session for the children of Sheldon Oak’s Community Center at 54 South Prospect Street. The talented music teacher from the local cultural center led our session, which featured drumsticks and music buckets. We all gathered in a circle, fostering a sense of community as we crafted rhythmic beats together. This session was especially educational for the children who had the opportunity to delve into the world of percussion. They learned essential skills, such as holding and using drumsticks properly, along with various musical tips and tricks. It was a fun experience that sparked a love for music and rhythm in young hearts.
We had a fantastic start to the summer with our recent ice cream social at our community center on 54 S Prospect St. Our event was full of fun, with coloring pages, lots of laughter, and, of course, plenty of sprinkles! It was the perfect sweet treat to beat the summer heat.
