Twin Acres was Sheldon Oak Central's first large-scale rehabilitation and construction project in the Sheldon/Charter Oak Neighborhood. Twin Acres was built in 1958 as housing for residents displaced by downtown redevelopment; in 1993, when Sheldon Oak Central began its work, many original residents remained. The redevelopment of Twin Acres led to renewed energy in the community, and the revitalization of the Coalition to Strengthen the Sheldon/Charter Oak Neighborhood.
